Next time you are not sure about how you look, try using Yo Macha!, a rating site which rates your photos. You just upload the photos and the whole world tells you how you look. It’s the new way of becoming famous too. This is not it. Before you select which of the two dresses to wear for a party, post your photos in the rating war section, and you would know which outfit suits you the best. Isn’t this exciting?

The first startup from Jaipur, Yo Macha!, is easy to use. There are no downloads, no save as and your photos are well secured. All you do is login and start rating or get yourself rated by signing up.

But why Yo Macha? What’s in this name? It sounds funky and yo.

This is what Ajit Nawalkha, founder of Yo Macha! had to say:

How did you choose the name?

We were looking for something funky and easy to remember. If you travel down south you would find everyone calling their friend machan…that sounded funky and we thought we would use it.

What is your USP?

We are the only one out of India. There are other sites out of US though. Rating wars are our major USP.

Who is your target segment?

This kind of a concept appeals to people of the younger generation, 15 -25 years. But we wouldn’t mind anyone who wants to rate his/her picture.

How secured are the photos & profiles?

We have taken a lot of care for safety and security of users. We have used all safety features to make sure that pictures are safe from stealing. Even a user signed up as friend will not be able to see the entire profile of his friend.

How different are you from HotorNot?

We are not a dating site like HotorNot and also we generate a lot of traffic from our rating wars page, which is unique to our site.

Are you looking at adding other social community aspects?

No, we don’t want it to become yet another social networking site. But, yeah it will have some basic functionality of sending and receiving messages. We are planning to make it more out of the box and there are a lot of things in the pipe line.

What’s your revenue model?

Now, it’s purely advertisements. But we are open to other features as they come by. Accessory selling would be a good feature. But it would take more time to materialize.

How are you funded?

We are funded by angel investors.

How has been the progress so far?

We have got 3000 page hits and 700 registered users till date. The progress has been pretty encouraging so far and there is a long way to go.
